What About Major Projects?

How To Request A Locate For A Major Project:

City Projects: It is strongly recommended that you not call in more than one block per ticket. Your directions can be processed in one of the following ways:

  • Address to address
  • Street to street
  • GPS starting & ending points with name of street provided

Rural Projects: It is strongly recommended not to call in more than 1 mile per ticket. Your directions can be processed in one of the following ways:

  • Driving directions with starting and ending points
  • GPS starting & ending points with name of street & nearest intersection provided

It is strongly recommended not to call in more than 5 days of work per ticket.

Longer locate requests can be called in for setting poles or hand holes as long as the specific spots to be worked are marked with paint, flags, stakes or chalk & details are included in the ticket.

Important ticket requirements to remember when working on major projects:

  • You need to renew your locate request if the marks are not visible - be specific about which utilities need to refresh their markings & the area that needs to be marked.
  • You need to renew your locate request if your ticket will not be completed within 20 working days - call on the 18th day to avoid delays - be specific about the area to be marked.
  • You need to renew your locate request if you have not started the work on the ticket within 10 days of calling the center.
  • If you find yourself not able to work a specific request area, cancel the ticket as soon as possible and call for another locate request 2 working days before you return to the area.
